Snowsport Instructors

If you catch the ski or snowboarding bug you probably spend most of the summer dreaming of winter. And if you catch it really badly then you probably spend it training and being assessed so that you can teach other people how to ski and snowboard! Passing one of the ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) accredited exams is both a big commitment and a superb way to spend a season. It can take you around the world and be one of the most rewarding jobs we can think of. If you want to be a part of this, take a look at the training courses available on this page, or apply for some of our yearly instructor vacancies. We don't get lots of instructor jobs because most are recruited either directly from the training courses, or through word of mouth.

Ski instructor courses

Training to be a ski or snowboard instructor has to be a real commitment if you want to take it seriously. You can find out more about how ski instructor courses can be taken with different countries exam boards, and the different levels of qualification, in our articles below. But basically, if you want to teach in an international mountain resort, rather than on a dry slope or indoor dome, then you need to be at least level 2 qualified. The ski instructor courses above will help improve your technical ability as a skier or snowboarder, and give you the teaching skills to be able to help newcomers to the sport enjoy their time on the piste. The courses are not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for – an incredible experience that can last as much as three months, and set you up for a reasonably well paid career in snowsports education. Popular courses take place in New Zealand, Canada and Austria, with some having links to ski schools that actually guarantee you qualifications, paid work and real teaching experience all within a single season!
