Woodrow High House is a residential training centre, part of the charity London Youth, supporting over seven thousand young people each year. We create unique experiences for young people and adults within and surrounding our site in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. From bespoke residential visits, to day camps, day visits, off-site camping, accredited Youth Leadership courses, team building days, camping, plus much more. Our Instructors facilitate the learning and development of young people of all ages, from a variety of backgrounds with a range of strengths. We believe that people should be given the opportunity to experience and compliment success outside of the usual social norms- outside the classroom and out in nature. In addition to our residential house, we have a number of facilities available for use by our visitors, or to hire out separately. These include our sports hall, swimming pool, 3G Astroturf pitch, mountain bike skills track and meeting room spaces. Our site is fully accessible, and inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do.
What makes your company different from the competition?
Woodrow really delivers what we say we deliver- facilitating the development of soft and hard skills of the young people that visit us, encouraging self-reflective practice, and prompting ideas about how these skills can be applied long after they've left Woodrow.
We also put our staff at the heart at what we do- encouraging a real culture of well-being, learning and fun at every step.
How many people do you employ or train each year?
We have a team of twelve Outdoor Instructors, some full-time, some seasonal, supported by Sales/Catering/Sports Centre and Facilities teams.
Why are you a good company to work for or train with?
We believe that well-being should be at the heart of all that we do- including our staff. We offer comfortable accommodation (with gardens!) on-site, as well as the opportunity to develop your skills in a hard-working and dedicated team. We're a solid team, with solid benefits, including 39 days holiday pro-rata, a controlled working-hour week, uniform, and free meals whilst you're at work.
