We are one of Birmingham's oldest children's charities, established in 1906. Woodlands Adventure and Outdoor Learning is run by the Birmingham Boys and Girls Union by a board of dedicated voluntary trustees. We offer adventurous outdoor education, accessible for children from all backgrounds. They can stay for residential visits, camping or just for the day, participating in activities such as our assault course, choice of 2 zip lines, archery, paddle sports, climbing, abseiling and high ropes and more, all instructed by qualified, dbs checked and first aid trained staff.
What makes your company different from the competition?
Woodlands Adventure and Outdoor Learning is set in 36 acres of beautiful natural woodland, centrally located with easy access to the motorway network. Each visit is tailor made for each individual group, by choosing the activities to suit their requirements, curriculum or any special needs or requests. We also allocate each group their own toilet and shower facility along with an area for their sole use during the day.
How many people do you employ or train each year?
We employ 14 staff and we also have 2 apprentices at the moment. We are looking to take on another 2 apprentices in 2019 and also a number of seasonal staff February to October.
Why are you a good company to work for or train with?
We are a great team, very friendly and passionate about what we do and the roles we have. Everyone receives regular training to keep their skills up to date and progress at Woodlands Adventure and Outdoor Learning and it is a fantastic charity to work for.
